Performance of Novel U-Connector in CFS Truss-to-Column Bolted Connection under Axial Force

This paper presents an experimental and numerical investigation of the tensile compressive behaviour a novel U-connector in cold-formed steel (CFS) truss-to-column connection. Tensile tests were performed on 12 specimens representing tension chords trusses The results used to validate finite element model. validated model was then subjected both loads, which revealed low stiffness components proposed An optimisation geometry by using one long nut instead two nuts carried out improve optimised compared with data, conclusions drawn regarding effectiveness use long-nut compression connection shows significant increase load-bearing capacity, makes it very promising for future applications CFS connections. However, further validation through testing is required confirm reliability full-scale structures.
